CFAM-PX Series |
||
Switchover Process Actuated by Pressure |
||
How it works | The controller monitors the pressure of each liquid cylinder. Once the liquid cylinder in service is low in pressure, it will switch over to the other liquid cylinder.
Benefits | Extremely fast reaction time, delivers cryogenic fluid at the minimum pressure required by the end user, up to 500 psig.
Draw back | Not suitable to supply liquid nitrogen to cryogenic freezers – does not monitor how much liquid is left in the cylinder or the temperature of the fluid delivered.
Typical application | Perfect for any applications requiring high flow of gas such as hyperbaric chambers or laser cutting machines. |

CFAM-WX Series |
||
Switchover Process Actuated by Weight |
||
How it works | The controller monitors of weight of each liquid cylinder. Once the weight of the liquid cylinder in service falls below a target weight, it will switch over to the other liquid cylinder.
Benefits | Fast reaction time, can work with any type of cylinder size or style, designed to handle very high or very low pressure, and allows the use of pretty much all cryogenic liquid in cylinder.
Draw back | Because of the two scales, it is the most expensive system of the three. It also takes the most floor space. For some operators, pushing the heavy liquid cylinders on the scales can be challenging.
Typical application | No limit. The limitation is the capacity of the liquid cylinders to perform the desired task. |

CFAM-TX Series |
||
Switchover Process Actuated by Temperature and Pressure |
||
How it works | The switchover from a liquid cylinder in service to a stand-by liquid cylinder will occur once both liquid cylinder pressure and fluid temperature conditions are not met over a certain period of time.
Benefits | Because the system does not use scales, it has some of the same benefits of the CFAM-WX (minus the reaction time) without the huge price tag.
Draw back | Reaction time – two minutes can pass before the controller determines that the temperature and pressure conditions are no longer within “acceptable” parameters.
Typical application | Geared toward cryogenic freezers provided that either the freezers or the CFAM-TX are equipped with the hot-gas-by-pass option. |
